Regional Employment Trials program delivering local job opportunities in Mandurah and Peel

The Morrison Government's $18.4 million Regional Employment Trials (RET) is inspiring local job seekers in the Mandurah region to get job ready and upskill through pre-employment training services.

Minister for Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business, Senator the Hon Michaelia Cash, said the trial is another way the Morrison Government is actively addressing the needs of regional Australia and creating more job opportunities for locals.

“The Government is committed to ensuring job seekers in regional areas are getting the assistance they need to gain sustainable employment. This includes helping to identify future employment, training or work experience opportunities and addressing local skills gaps,” Minister Cash said.

“We are committed to supporting local communities and continuing to provide practical and tailored assistance to those job seekers who need it.”

The Member for Canning, Andrew Hastie MP said the trial is a prime example of what can be achieved when local communities come together to pursue common goals.

“The Morrison Government is working directly with community members to establish practical measures to support job seekers, such as PEEP 2.0 Program - Parents Education and Exploring Personal Pathways Program," Mr Hastie said.

“The eight week pre-employment program is designed to build confidence and teach important soft skills that are vital to finding a job.”

The trial in Mandurah is support by is supported by AtWork Australia, and a locally-based Employment Facilitator who works directly with stakeholders to assist employers.

Under the trial, $1 million is available in each of the 10 selected regions, providing grants of between $7,500 and $200,000 to local stakeholders for employment related projects that meet local needs.
